lord of palm trees, a place in the tribe of Benjamin near Gibeah of Saul (Jg 20:33). It was one of the sanctuaries or groves of Baal. Probably the palm tree of Deborah (Jg 4:5) is alluded to in the name.
She used to sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment.
